“Piedmont, W.Va. - Hilda Bernadette “Bernie” McGoye, 97, formerly of Piedmont, died at Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, Md. on Friday 3 April 2015.
She was born in Piedmont on 21 April 1917, and was the daughter of the late William Keyes and Sarah (Trenum) Keyes. Her husband James Thomas McGoye, and her son, Robert T. McGoye preceded her in death.
Hilda was a member of Saint James Episcopal Church in Westernport. She was a homemaker and loved cats, enjoyed reading and crocheting. She also volunteered in the After School Program in the 1990’s and worked at the Piedmont Pool in ticket sales.
Hilda is survived by her son David A. McGoye and wife Charlotte of Chesterfield, Va., and her three grandchildren Barbara E. Munroe, Anne Lewis and Robert T. McGoye Jr., and 8 Great-Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont on Tuesday 7 April 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery, with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating.”
