Mabel Brooks McKnight, age 94 of 2359 Mountain View Road, Glade Valley, NC died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Independence, VA. She was born December 27, 1920 in McComas, West Virginia to the late Frank and Della Scott Brooks. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edwin James McKnight; two sons, Dick McKnight and Joe McKnight; two infant grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Brooks and Clifford Brooks; two sisters, Roxie Royal and Ruth Mitchell; one daughter-in-law, Janet McKnight. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Jimmie Gillespie of Ennice; four grandchildren, Kim McKnight of Ocean Isle Beach, Jill Radding and husband Pete of Wake Forest, Greg McKnight and partner Steve of Winston-Salem, Jennifer Waldorf and husband Bob of Deep Gap; four great-grandchildren, Joseph Crawford, Trent Radding, Grant Radding, Gretchen Waldorf; four sisters, Elsie Moore of Murfreesboro, TN, Louise Smith of Glade Valley, Ruby Heimmer of Abington, MD, Ellen Brooks of Glade Valley; one brother, Bobby Brooks of Fredericksburg, VA; one daughter-in-law, Carol McKnight of Glade Valley; a dear friend, Sandy Hammock of Glade Valley. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. McKnight at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 in the chapel of Grandview Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Ed Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Regular Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
