On September 27, 1943 Betty married Ernest Holland in Miami where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy. They celebrated their 71st anniversary in 2014.
The family moved from Doniphan, Mo to Albany, Or in 1948, then settled in Sutherlin in 1949. Betty worked at Zanes appliance for many years and raised 8 children. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and quilting. Playing cards and dominoes with family and friends was a fun pastime for her and she really loved to read. Betty was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include 5 daughters: Myra Hunt (Dennis), Waldport; Dianna McCoy (Regan), West Linn; Judy Ouellette (Mike); Sharon Liesinger (Vern); Carol Mendenhall (Jerry), Roseburg; 3 Sons: Jerry (Lee), Albany; Rick (Linda), Florida; and Mike (Pam), Roseburg; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Ernie (1915), 2 year old son Craig, 6 sisters and 1 brother.
The family would like to thank Brookdale Alzheimer’s & Dementia care center for their loving care to our mother for the 14 months she lived there.
Private family services will be held at Roseburg VA Cemetery.
