Thomas Hunter Kyle, 90, of Corrigan, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in Lufkin. He was born Nov. 4, 1924 in Oil City, Louisiana to Henry Hunter Kyle and Lillian Louise Anita Sammons.

Funeral services will be at Corrigan Funeral Home. Pastor Rickard Bailey will officiate. Burial will follow at Striker Cemetery.

Thomas grew up in Stryker, Texas, and attended Corrigan High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943-1946. He was in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the American Theater with the 1304th Army Air Force Base Unit, Air Transport Command during World War II.

Thomas met his wife of 37 years, Bertie, while they both worked at the Champion Plywood Company. They were married on September 17, 1977.

After retirement, Thomas enjoyed working around his property. He was a farmer, worked the timber on his place, and raised cattle. When he was not working, he enjoyed fishing. He was an active member of the Corrigan Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. Thomas was a lay minister in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he served faithfully for many years.

Thomas is survived by his step-sons Randy Gesford and his fiancé Marty Morrison, both of Bryan, and Andrew Gesford and his wife, Renee, of Willis, Texas; step-daughter, Doris Higgins and her husband, Tommy, of Pollok; daughter-in-law, Debbie Kyle Green of Austin; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Doris Gesford Kyle; his parents, Henry and Lillian Kyle; sisters, Louise Shepherd and Phyllis Smith and his sons, Tommie Eugene Kyle and James Hunter Kyle.
