After training at Camp Wadsworth, the 105th Machine Gun Battalion shipped out for Europe, May 18, 1918, from Newport News, VA, aboard the USS Calomares. The battalion docked at St. Nazaire, France, May 30, 1918.
After additional training in France the 27th Division entered the Lines in mid-July 1918. He saw combat in both Belgium & France.
He returned from France, on board the USS Leviathan, March 6, 1919, docking at Hoboken, NJ. The 105th MG Battalion marched in the great " Welcome Home Parade ", for the 27th Division, up 5th Avenue, in New York City, March 25, 1919. Discharged from the service, April 1, 1919, Camp Upton, NY.
