Galen J. Dixon, one of the best-known men in this section, passed away at his family home last Thursday night, after a short illness. Mr. Dixon was especially well known here on account of the Interest he has always taken in water matters. At one time he was Register of the United States Land Office at Independence, and while there became thoroughly versed in land and water matters in this country. He was always strongly opposed to the encroachment of the City of Los Angeles in this county, and for many years was the leader of the opposition to the City's developments here. Twice he was sent to Washington by the fanners here in opposition to bills which Los Angeles had before Congress, returning the last time in March of this year. Mr. Dixon was a man who was held high in the councils of the water users of this section, and his death will be felt in this community. The sympathy of the community is extended to his wife and family in their bereavement.
