Mrs. Fannie N. Chambers, the beloved and devoted wife of T. J. Chambers, died at the family residence in this township (Liberty, Texas) Saturday at noon. She was 59 years of age. Rev. Father Gumbleton, of the Catholic church, conducting the funeral service, the remains were given to the embrace of the earth Sunday. And this tells the sad story of my lovely mother! Never during our term as a chronicler of the events for the readers of the Vindicator has the task been so sad as this time. Never before has every word been breathed out in sorrow and every type we place torn a fresh wound in our heart. This message is the saddest. This grief is the most inconsolable. She suffered for nearly seven weeks and all that medical aid could do was administered; all that the faithful could pray was offered to the Almighty and all that tender nursing and care could exert was done, but every effort met with defeat. The God who gave her reclaimed her and closing her eyes upon the scenes of earth took her pure soul to dwell with the pure and just in a home prepared for the faithful beyond that starlight radiant glow where the sunlight, that she so loved, never fades and the shadows never fall, leaving with us only her beautiful form, cold and clammy in the icy embrace of death. She was a true and devoted wife and mother, a gentle and generous neighbor, a friend whose hand and heart never faltered, kind, charitable and unselfish, a christian, a firm believer in the faith in which she was born and raised, a most lovable creature whose virtues and goodness -- whose entire life -- could well be emulated. All the soft cadence of sweetest music was in her voice. All the sunshine of a perfect day was in her smile. We loved her for she was the Best of All, and in our sorrow we bow before the mighty God and humbly pray that all is well with her.
'Tis all we can do.
