Service: Tuesday May 19, 2015, at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow.... Burial, Vernon Cemetery in Coweta under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home. Huey P. Alford, 87, died Thursday, May 14, 2015, in Tulsa.
He was born in Coburn, Louisiana, Sunday, Jan. 22, 1928, to Ivey Edward Alford and Myrtie Mae Frantom Alford. Huey completed the eighth grade and went to work to support the family. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the WWII Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged and later rejoined to serve during the Korean War. Huey married Colleen Bacon Dec. 19, 1951, in Cleveland.
Huey had several occupations throughout his life including mining uranium in Colorado and New Mexico and working as a merchant marine. He held multiple positions at Unit Rig and Equipment Company and retired after 35 years as a plant manager. He then became a consultant with Unit Rig and traveled with his wife Norma to plants throughout the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Colleen; second wife Norma and eight siblings.
Huey is survived by daughters, Huetta Green and husband Gary of Coweta, Sammi Alford of Broken Arrow, and Tonya Orrell; son, Victor Alford and wife Catrena, Coweta; grandchildren, April Gilbert and husband Brian, Misty Sloat and husband Mike, Justin Green, Garrett Ireland, Devin Ireland and wife Jamie; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Cameron, Braden, Caleb, Emily, Jacob and Wylie; sisters, Linda Watley and Mae Odom; brother, Mike Alford.
A funeral service was held Tuesday May 19, 2015, at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow…. Burial followed at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Oklahoma Chapter … or the American Heart Association….
