Edward G. Honeman, 85, of Hooker died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS.
Born April 20, 1914 in Iuka, KS he was the son of George and Anna Sittner Honeman. The family moved to the Hooker area in 1916 where they lived and farmed four miles southwest of Hooker. Edward attended Buffalo country school.
He was united in marriage to Velda Berneise Chappelle on June 30, 1934 in Guymon. They farmed together and for five years he worked of Natural Gas Pipeline moving into Hooker in October 1959. For 12 years, he custom harvested in Oklahoma, Colorado and Nebraska retiring in 1980.
A 50 year member of the First Christian Church in Hooker where he served as a Deacon, he was a member of the Hooker Lions Club. They loved to travel and saw most of the United States in their motor home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Estal in 1955; his grandson, Michael; three brothers, August, Walter and Louis; and two sisters, Minnie and Dora.
Survivors include his wife, Velda of the home; two sons, Larry and LaVonne Honeman of Hooker and Jim and Mary Ann Honeman of Hooker; four grandchildren, Troy Honeman, Lori Wares, Mark and Spencer Honeman; eight great grandchildren, William, Haley, Morgan, Madison, Tyler, Austin, Amber and Mikey.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 11 at the First Christian Church in Hooker with Rev. Irvin Stanke officiating.
