Daughter of Loren Day & Martha Elizabeth (Dickenson) Clark - the 3rd child of 15. 26 May 1925 married Carl Alfred Tomlin in Walla Walla, WA. She was the mother of one daughter, Carla Alice. Aunt Alice taught elementary school for many years before illness forced her retirement.
ALICE CLARK TOMLIN PIONEER FAMILY: ALICE CLARK TOMLIN,65, daughter of a pioneer Eastern Oregon family, died Thursday at the family home. A school teacher for 40 years, she retired last June from Peterson School following 17 years on the faculty. Funeral services will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church with concluding services in Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Tomlin was born Oct.15, 1901, in Ukiah. She married Carl Tomlin on May 26, 1925, in Walla Walla,Wash., and the couple came to Klamath County in 1928. Mrs. Tomlin received her education at the University of Oregon, Oregon Agricultural College (now Oregon State University), Oregon College of Education and earned her degree at Southern Oregon College. She taught in Criterion, Wasco County: Mountain View, Salem: Plevna, Fairhaven, Altamont, Shasta, Chemult,Summers, and Peterson Schools in Klamath County. She is survived by her husband, Carl; daughter, Carla Alice Mundt; sisters, Elizabeth Ricketts, Salem, and Mary Ricketts, Milton-Freewater; brothers, Ralph, Portland, Frank and Sims, Milton-Freewater, Ross, Modesto, Calif., L.D., Palouse, Wash., Dean, Cashmere, Wash., Carl, Salem, and Albert, Lyons. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the new children's library at Peterson school in care of Harvey Denham Principal, or to the American Cancer Society.
