Mildred J. Sherman, of Mansfield passed away May 12, 2015 in the Hospice Unit of Kingston of Ashland. The daughter of Dewey and Violet (Taylor) Galvin, Mildred was born June 30, 1925 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. On October 12, 1953 she married Lawrence J. “Sherm” Sherman. She assisted Sherm in operating his business, Sherman Transmission Inc. Mildred was a member of First Alliance Church, and past worthy matron Ruth Chapter of Eastern Star. She is survived by her children Patricia J. Long, Cuyahoga Falls, Marilyn J. (Dr. Stephen) Walker of Lexington, Richard J. Sherman of Columbus, step children Lawrence R. Sherman, Mt. Vernon, Sue C. (Marion) Ely of Ashland; nine grandchildren; 19 great grand children; brother Richard Galvin, Williamsport, Indiana; sisters Edna (Harry) Appleton, Monroe Falls, Ohio, Jo Ann Ames, Carrolton, Ohio; sisters-in-law Rose Mary Galvin, Houston, Texas and Karen Dalby, Colorado Springs, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Mildred was preceded on death by her husband Sherm; brothers Bill, Don, Norman Galvin, Dale Dalby; and daughter-in-law Bonnie L. Sherman. The family will receive friends Friday, May 15, 2015 from 11 am – 12 pm in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Great Commission Fund of first Alliance Church may be made through the funeral home.
