Bernard"Ben"Duvelius, 79, 208 W. Hendricks St., former custodian of st, Joseph Catholic Church, died Sunday at 2:20 p.m. in Veterans Administration Hospital, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient since June 27. He had been in failing health many years. Born in morning View, Ky., April 16, 1894, the son of Frank and Mary(Cook)Duvelius. He married Dorothy Worland on Sept. 1, 1924, and she died June 29, 1955. Mr. Duvelius a resident of Shelbyville 40 years, retired in 1959 as custodian of St. Joseph Catholic Church of which he was a member. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Victory Post, American Legion. Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church with the Rev, William Ernst officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites by the Legion. Friends may call at the Ewing Mortuary any time and the Rosary will be recited there at 7:30 p.m. today. Survivors are two daughters and four sons, Mrs. Mary Catherine Kremer, of Beech Grove, Mrs. Mildred Sue Hutchings, Leonard, John, Ira and Thomas Duvelius, all of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, the Misses Clara and Elizabeth Duvelius and Mrs. Anna Klinker, all of Enochsburg; and three brothers, Louis Duvelius, Loveland, O., Joseph Duvelius, Oldenburg, and Frank Duvelius, Enochsburg. Two sons preceded in death.
