Published in The Paducah Sun, Paducah, McCracken Co., Ky., 18 Nov 2001 - JOPPA, Ill.--Services for the Rev. Guy F. Adams, 80, of Joppa will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Joppa Baptist Church. The Revs. Charles Blair, David Wright and Homer Harner will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow in Hillerman Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Adams died at 2:40 p.m. Friday at Southgate Health Care Center in Metropolis.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired control operator of 34 years with Electric Energy Inc. and a retired Baptist minister of 18 years. He was a charter member of Joppa Baptist Church and served as pastor at New Salem Baptist Church, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and Cole Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Emma Hicks, Rebecca McQuage and Denise Knupp; one son, Jess Adams; one sister, Elizabeth Stockton; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Johnson Adams; one son, Jonathan David Adams; three sisters; and two brothers. His parents were Ezra Cecil and Verta Pearl Jones Adams.
