Wife: Jemima/Jane McEntyre/McIntire, years of birth and death are approximate: b. 1780, d. 1820

Samuel's birth year is based on the inscription on his headstone: Died Dec. 19, 1843 in his 82nd year

The birthplace of Samuel is unknown because it is believed that his parents left New Jersey prior to his birth. Information on page 3-1 in Chapter 3 in the book titled "A Branch of the Piscataway Dunn Family" by Anthony J. Christensen states that his parents, Benajah and Sarah Dunham Dunn, left New Jersey sometime after their marriage in 1744; they were not included in the listing of freeholders in Middlesex County in 1752. They would have been in the process of relocating during the year Samuel was born, therefore I have chosen Virginia as a probable place of birth absent any proof. In 1762 Benajah was listed on the Cumberland County, Pennsylvania extant tax rate list. Note: Samuel is not listed as a son of Benajah & Sarah in this book; however, early research done by the family found children other than Zephaniah and Elizabeth (who were named in Benajah's Will), namely Jeremiah (b. 1746), Isaac (b. 1748), Edmund (b. 1750), Benajah (b. 1752), Joseph (b. 1756), and Samuel (b. 1761). Research is continuing in hopes of finding information to confirm paternity of Samuel.

Excerpt from "A History of the West Union Presbyterian Church and Community" by the Reverend Fred Cochran, Plain Grove, PA, June 18, 1947, Pages 24 & 25:

"SAMUEL DUNN: Native of New Jersey. Married Jemima McEntyre, native of Pennsylvania. They were of Irish and English origin. Samuel died in 1843 and is buried at West Union. Six children."
