Ed J. Watts passed away June 13, 2009 at Pikes Peak Hospice, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on August 14, 1920 in Capps, Arkansas to William and Lydia Watts. For 54 years he was married to Pearle L. Watts who preceded him in death. Ed was blessed to find another special person to spend the rest of his life with and is survived by her, Martha E. Yama, and his five adult children: Mark Watts of Phoenix, Arizona; E. Roger Watts of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Marsha Stewart of Greeley, Colorado; Shelley Heacock of Canon City, Colorado; and Kim Dixon of Belmont, North Carolina; a sister Violet Kongorski of Athena, Oregon; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ed grew up during the great depression and served in the Army from April 1942 till he was honorably discharged in November 1945. He worked as a radio announcer in Garden City, Kansas until 1950 when he moved his family to Oakley, Kansas where he owned and operated a bakery. In 1966, the family moved to Greeley, Colorado. While there he attended the University of Northern Colorado and obtained his business degree. In 1971 he began teaching at the Colorado School for the Deaf & the Blind in Colorado Springs and retired from there in 1985. Always active, he pursued his favorite hobby of fly fishing and fly tying vigorously. Interment will be in Ashton Cemetery in Hope, Kansas with Pearle on June 26th. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pikes Peak Flyfishers Club, P O Box 38008, Colorado Springs, CO 80937-8008.
