Fred Ernest Moss, of Mer Rouge, LA, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015
at Oakwoods Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge, LA. A native of Wilmot, AR,
He was 95 years old.
Memorial services will be held at Mer Rouge United Methodist Church
Saturday, March 7 at 2 PM. Services will be conducted by Rev. Mollie McGee
and Rev. Ramon Warren.
He was born on July 23, 1919, to Erwin Thomas Moss and Bertha Iola Miles
Moss.
He was a World War II veteran who served in the 74th Engineer Company in both the European Theatre and in Canada where he was involved in the construction of
the Alaska Highway.
After returning to Mer Rouge he became a member of the Mer Rouge United
Methodist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 256 and a member for 50 years of the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Patron 25 times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and brother-in-laws, Foster and Mecie Akers, Ford and Marguerite Hendershot, Louis and Sadilee Dade, Buddy and Maude Pennington, and brother-in-law, Ray Carter.
He leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Dorothy McKee Moss; son, Craig Moss of Mer Rouge, LA; daughter, Allison Moss of Lufkin, TX; granddaughter, Leah Scoggin Walters and husband Kevin of Okinawa, Japan; sister, Jackie Carter of Reno, NV; sister-in-law, Beverly Tolar of Hot Springs Village, AR. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
For those who wish, the family requests that any planned memorials be made to the Mer Rouge United Methodist Church.
Fred donated his body to the medical school at Shreveport.
His ashes will be buried at this location in the Mer Rouge Cemetery.
