He inherited from his father Abraham, Sr. a rectangular trace of 690 acres fronting the lower bank of the south branch of the Raritan River about a half mile and extending southeastwards over two miles in Hillsborough, Somerset Co., NJ. He was a Freeholder in Somerset County, NJ. In 1757 he built a stone house on the property off Amwell Road. This house was surveyed by the HABS program during the 1930's. The property was later owned in the 1900's by a family called Eisler and the road it stood on was Eisler Farm Lane (now Eisler Lane) in Hillsborough, Somerset County, NJ. It stood until the early 1970's when it was torn down for a housing development.

Abraham, the pioneer, died in Hillsborough in 1758 at 73 years of age. Just the year before he had finished building a new house for himself, a masonry structure. It is not known how he disposed of his earlier residence, except to imagine that it stood on one of the tracts he willed to his six children and their spouses
