James S. Truax, 85, died at 8:15 a.m. yesterday in Pleasant Grove Hospital, La Grange Road, after an illness of 18 months. A native of Spencer County, Truax farmed near Bloomfield, Ky., until he came to Louisville in 1935. He lived with a daughter, Mrs. Mary T. Williams, 2325 Alta Church. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Tressie Hunt, Mrs. Ella Rose Dawson, and Mrs Dorothy Mountain, Rethesda, M.I.; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p m. tomorrow at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bloomfield. James was the son of Zebulon Truax & Mary Jane Canaday (married 28 Jan. 1851 in Spencer Co. Ky.) He married 5 Dec. 1894 in Nelson Co. Ky., Annie Vandeventer.
