He was born December 11, 1945, in Chicago, the son of William and Alice Craig Dennett. Ronald married Barbara A. Hults on Oct. 18, 1969, in Chicago.
Mr. Collum served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and received the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.
He had worked at Leach Homes in Joliet, was a self-employed carpenter, enjoyed tinkering and building things such as decks, tree houses, and gazebos. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, of Manteno; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Russell and Kim Shepard, of Manteno, and John Shepard, of Manteno; one daughter, Jill Collum, of Manteno; a sister, Linda Rogers, of Crest Hill; and eight grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, William Dennett.
Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Manteno.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church in Manteno.
Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
