Helen Marie Aber was born Feb. 21, 1923, to John and Mabel Rice. She died May 5, 2015, in Coquille.

Helen and her family lived in the state of Missouri. After finishing her schooling, Helen joined the military and served during World War II as a pharmacy tech. During her time in the military, she met and married her husband Leo Aber. The couple then later moved to Oregon, where Helen worked for Georgia-Pacific for many years from which she eventually retired, leading her into beauty school in Roseburg which lead to the opening of her own hair salon.

She was involved in with many organizations such as the emblem club and was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church which was very important to her. Helen was a very witty lady that loved playing cards with friends, going to church, and golfing. She led a long life filled with many adventures around the globe.

Helen will be greatly missed by her family, friends, caregivers, and all who called her "Grandma Helen."

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday May 8, at the Coquille Masonic Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Amling Schroeder Funeral Service, Coquille.
