Dean C. Michaels, age 90, a resident at Perry Village and formerly of Halifax passed away on May 3, 2015, at the West Shore Hospital.

Dean was born in Dalmatia, PA the son of the late Newton and Rosie Schreffler Michael.

He was retired from Halls Motor Freight and was a member of the Halifax VFW #5750 and Powells Valley Fire Co. where he was past fire chief.

He served in the US Army in France during WWII with the 79th infantry division earning three bronze stars.

He was the widow of Marian A. Klouser Michaels and also preceded in death by a sister Mae Deppen.

Surviving is a daughter Pansy Michaels of Lancaster, a son Larry and his wife Michelle of Halifax, a sister Leah Umholtz of Shamokin Dam, a brother Walter Michael of Millersburg, three step-granddaughters Ashlee, Miranda, and Jessica Laudenslager; two step-great-grandchildren Connor and Emma Ritter.

There will be a viewing on Monday, May 11 from 10 to 11 am at the Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Millersburg.

Services will begin at 11 am with burial and military honors to follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax.

Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of S. Central PA 3544 N. Progress Ave. Suite 205 Harrisburg, PA 17110.
