Clarence Atwood

Clarence Evan Atwood, 90, of Vernal, passed away March 6, 1999 at the Castleview Hospital in Price. He was born April 6, 1908 in Vernal, a son of Leonard Noble and Rachelle Hunting Atwood. He married Silvy Louisa Bateman on Oct. 31, 1927 in Vernal.

Evan was a sheepherder for 18 years. He then worked for Vernal City in maintenance prior to retiring after 25 years. He was a member of the LDS Church, Vernal 4th Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clarence Leroy Atwood; and a granddaughter, Ellen Atwood.

Evan is survived by a son, Melvin Atwood, Salt Lake City; brother, Nephi Atwood, Vernal; and six grandsons. Also surviving him are 13 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 9, in the Vernal Memorial Park.

Services were under the direction of Thomson's Vernal Mortuary.
