PHILLIPS — Dennis R. Mora, 77, of Phillips died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at home, surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The Rev. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will follow in Phillips Cemetery.
All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dennis was born March 1, 1939, at North Platte to Simon and Jenny (Delgado) Mora.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Ramona; his children, Florence and Felipe Hernandez Domingo of Omaha, Gloria Ramirez Mora, Dan and Judy Mora, Ray and Yvonne Mora, all of Grand Island, and Tonya Vazquez Casillas of Grand Island, the granddaughter whom he along with his wife was granted the gift of raising; and a sister, Mary Mora of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Jenny; three brothers, Philip, John and Thomas; and Delgado grandparents.

Dennis grew up and received his education in North Platte. He was united in marriage to Ramona Hernandez on Jan. 5, 1957.

For a time Dennis was employed by Union Pacific Railroad before his employment with Werner Construction of Hastings, from which he retired after 25 years of service. Dennis loved his work running heavy equipment and machinery, at which he was very good.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and the Altar Society. He and Ramona were on the funeral committee and helped with the funeral lunches for many years.

His various interests included hunting, fishing, long distance shooting, ammunition reloading, camping, jet skiing, gardening, video games, building model airplanes and cutting firewood to prepare for winter. However, his greatest enjoyment was taking care of his wife, Ramona, whom he spoiled in his own way by having her shower and heated bathroom ready for her. He would prepare her coffee every morning and loved to make her dinner every night.

He dearly loved spending time with his children, who blessed him with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, which totaled a whopping 54 strong, not included his numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was easy going, had a great sense of humor, was an excellent listener and gave superb advice. There was always a smile on his face and he loved life. He leaves behind so much love and memories and will be forever missed.
