WHITEHALL - Robert W. Martel Sr. passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 2, 2015, at his home.
Born Nov. 29, 1952, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Marie (Belden) Martel.
He was a Whitehall High School graduate, Class of 1972.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed working in his garden, hunting and having an occasional coffee brandy and milk.
On July 27, 1973, he married Sheila LaChapelle.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Sheila LaChapelle Martel, who passed away Oct. 17, 2012, after 39 years of marriage.
Arrangements by the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in Greenmount Cemetery.
