Dora was my mother's favorite aunt. Mom's mother, Lena, and Dora were quite close in age, and after, as children, they lost 4 siblings, they relied upon each other. The two moved from their father's farm in southern Illinois to the big city (St. Louis, MO) as young women to find jobs as nannies/housekeepers. Later they and their husbands moved west to Los Angeles, CA, likely for better jobs.

Dora and her husband, Louis, invested in and managed apartments and houses giving her a reasonable retirement income in her later years.

Dora took care of her sister, Lena (who was in the early stages of Alhzeimers), after Lena's husband Otto died unexpectedly. Dora died, also unexpectedly leaving no offspring and no will.
