DEATHS. In this village, on the 5th inst., the Rev. HENRY FORD, in the 65th year of his age. An able and faithful servant of the Lord is thus removed from his labors on earth to his reward in heaven. He was born near Morristown, N. J., and after completing his collegiate course at New Haven, under the presidency of Dr. Dwight, and his theological course at his native place, under the care of Dr. Richards, he commenced the exercise of his ministry at Bethlehem, Orange county, N. Y. After spending a short time there, he removed to Lisle, N. J., and in 1820, he took charge of the Presbyterian Church in this village, which he remained until 1827. He subsequently preached at Lisle again, and also at Wells, Pa. For the last five years he has been most usefully employed as a colporteur, of the American Tract Society in our county, and in Bradford and Tioga counties, Pa. , and perhaps accomplished more than during any other equal space in his life. Mr. Ford was a man of vigorous and independent mind; of thought, rather than learning, and of action rather than study. He was upright by nature, and education and grace unmovably confirmed him in his integrity. He was of an ardent temperament and faithful in his attachment. His piety was unaffected and unquestioned. No one that knew him ever doubted it - and not satisfied with the experience of religion he developed its spirits and principles in all relations and circumstances, and aiming at more than a good example, he labored untiringly in direct efforts for the conversion of others. A large circle of acquaintances and friends suffer with the bereaved, family and relations, from this death, a good man has fallen, whose face we loved to see, and by whose toils and sacrifices an extensive region was blessed (The Elmira Gazette, Elmira, New York, Thursday morning, November 9, 1848).

There is a misprint in the above obituary and it should have read Lisle, N. Y. versus N. J.
