Funeral services for William Vernon Welch, 98, of Rosenberg, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 28, 2006, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
Rev. Casey Dubose will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006, in the Stateroom of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
Vernon was born September 8, 1908 in Beattie, Texas to Rev. John and Anna Lee Smith Welch. He was a teacher for Lamar Consolidated School where he retired after 33 years. He passed away December 23, 2006 at his home in Rosenberg with his loving family by his side.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; one brother; his first wife, Christina Welch; and his son, Vernon Welch, Jr.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 60 years, Oma Lee Jones Welch; stepson, Kenneth Craig; grandson, Curtis Craig and wife, Candi; granddaughter, Amber Dugosh and husband, Craig; great-gGrandchildren, Colton Craig, Connor Craig, Payton Dugosh, Raegan Dugosh; along with numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will include Curtis Craig, Dean Chapman, Ronnie Chapman, Richard Chapman, Craig Dugosh, Pucker Robertson, Calvin Lamenske, Bernd Rham.
