Maggie was a compassionate person, and when her sister, Mary died in 1893, she took in her niece, Mary Marie Hayward to raise. In 1912, when her daughter, Cora Ada, died, she took in her 2 granddaughters, Hazel age 6 and Ruth age 5 to raise also. With these 3 girls and her aging mother, Catharine Stallcup Buckner, Maggie had a great deal of work to do in caring for them and her husband. She is a very important person in my life and I wish I could have known her. Gwen
