"Barnard Haile married Hannah Wheaton, the daughter of Samuel and Experience (Pierce) Wheaton before 1728. He built a house on the land laid out to him by the commissioners who divided his father's estate. [On the cellar of that house a small house was recently built for Mrs. Julia W. Sherman (prior to 1936), who told the workmen to excavate until they found the old cellar wall, for she wished the house to stand upon part of the foundation of the old house in which her grandmother was born. She was a descendant of Hannah Wheaton from her second marriage to John Wood, Jr., whom Hannah married in 1739.]"
