BARTONVILLE - C. Herman Allen, 99, of Bartonville passed away peacefully at 12:42 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015, at his home in Bartonville.Herman was born in Spring Lake, Ill., on Oct. 19, 1915, to Harm R. and Henrietta (Bohn) Allen. He married Ruth (Schmidt) Allen on June 30, 1937. She survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Dwayne (Karol) Allen of Bartonville and Gary (Terri) Allen of Canton; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ralph, Norma and Agnes; daughter, Norma Mantz; and great-granddaughter, Kayla Schwitters.Herman worked at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville as a rigger welder, retiring after 35 years of service.He was a former member of the Hollis School Board and a founding member of the Tuscarora Volunteer Fire Department. Herman was also a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria.Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, at Christ Lutheran Church. Pastor Karl Eckhoff will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel and 30 minutes prior to the service at Christ Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.Memorial can be made to the Christ Lutheran Church
