A graveside service for Melvin Lewis Briggs, 90, of Karnack, TX, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Bracken Cemetery with Bro. Ron Segers officiating. Interment will follow. Mr. Briggs passed away April 30, 2015, in Tyler, TX.
Melvin Lewis Briggs was born December 10, 1924, to Robert E. Lee and Lena Briggs. He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing. Mr. Briggs spent his career working for the railroad. He had served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving Mr. Briggs are his sons, Michael Lewis Briggs of Vancouver, WA, Patrick N. Briggs and wife Denise of Harleton, TX; brother, Billy Bob Briggs of Karnack; grandchildren, Chris Briggs and Jason Briggs, both of Marshall; great grandchildren, Hailey Briggs and Alivia Briggs of Marshall; numerous other extended family and friends. Mr. Briggs was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings.
