The Biggs News Butte County Reporter, Biggs, California, 28 Dec 1989, Thu • Page 2: HERB PERKINS - Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. yesterday, December 27, 1989, in Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel for Herb Perkins, 75, of Biggs. He died Friday, December 22, 1989, in Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 2, 1914, in Oklahoma, Mr. Perkins had been a resident of Biggs for 52 years. He had worked as a miller for the Rice Growers Association for over 30 years before his retirement in 1976.
Serving in the Army in World War II, Mr. Perkins fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Sparks, Nev., the South Butte Post No. 210 American Legion of Gridley, a past member of the Biggs Lions Club, and past president and member of Gridley Senior Citizens.
Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife, Neva of Gridley; a stepson, Roy Park of Ankeny, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Leola Andrews of El Paso, TX,; three sisters, Mildred Pierce and Violet Owens of Oklahoma and Viola Foshee of Buckeye, Ariz.; ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
