Duane enjoyed life, he was an easy going person. He participated in tractor pulls, liked camping, and the last few years he enjoyed helping at the Brown County Fair with his partner, Karen. Having to do kidney dialysis the last ten years did not slow him down.
Duane is survived by his partner, Karen Goodall of Aberdeen; father, Alvin J. Smith of Viborg, SD; brothers, Donald (Sue) Smith, Dennis (Denise) Smith and Russell (Donna) Smith, all of Parker; sister, Sheila (Bob) Hagemann of Parker; nephews, Troy, Darrin, Justin and Joseph Smith; nieces, Deb Krull, Miranda Fadden, Candice Smith and Jennifer Smith and their families. Also, survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Duane was preceded in death by his mother, Orina.
