Thomas Lynn Blankenship, age 81, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord Savior Jesus Christ on April 30, 2015. Tom was the greatest, loving husband, father, and grandfather. Tom was born on September 8, 1933 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1952, and then attended SMU, graduating in 1956. After graduation, Tom served his country in the Air Force from 1956-1960. He is preceded in death by parents Thomas and Etta Blankenship. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Blankenship; his three sons, Todd and his wife Angie, Stacy, and Gehrig and his wife Erin; his six grandchildren, Trey, Heather, Courtney, Matthew, Ian, and Madelyn; and his two great-grandchildren, Bobbie and Piper. Tom was ordained as a deacon at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Dallas in 1967 and in later years served as deacon at Orchard Hills Baptist Church in Garland. Tom's legacy of his love for Jesus, music, sports, and movies will continue to live on through his sons, grandchildren and all he influenced. Visitation will be on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 5-7pm at New Hope Funeral Home, 500 US Highway 80 E, Sunnyvale, TX 75182. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 11:30am at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, 3018 N Belt Line Rd, Mesquite, TX 75182. Interment will follow at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
