Logan Brittany Castlebury, 22, of Seagrove, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

Funeral services for Logan will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Antioch Christian Church, 5789 Antioch Church Rd., Seagrove with Rev. Craig Asbill and Rev. Rodney Barlow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Randolph County, Logan was born September 18, 1992. She was a 2010 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School where she played basketball, volleyball and softball. During high school Logan played basketball with the Greensboro Phoenix. She attended and played basketball at both the University of South Carolina Upstate and Concord University in West Virginia. Logan was working toward her degree in Elementary Education at UNCG while working as a substitute teacher for Randolph County Schools. Her love of sports was evident in her coaching, she was the assistant girls varsity basketball coach at ERHS and she coached numerous recreational ball teams in Coleridge including basketball, softball and baseball. An avid sports fanatic her favorite athletes included Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. Her favorite teams were the Carolina Tarheels, Carolina Panthers and Boston Red Sox. In addition to being an athlete, Logan was also a jokester, and always the life of the party. She had a very competitive spirit in everything she attempted. Her unwavering faith in God and love for her family was obvious to anyone and everyone who knew her.

Logan is survived by her parents, Amy Ward Castlebury and Bunn Castlebury of the home; two sisters, Lauren Castlebury and Lindsay Castlebury, both of the home; grandparents, Rev. Earl and Beverly Ward of Seagrove and Philip and Jacquie Castlebury of Siler City. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Craig and Lori Ward Asbill of Seagrove, Jonathan and Dana Ward of Asheboro, Phyllis and Rob Johnston of Apex, NC, Tammy and Kenny Stancil of Garner; cousins, Celeste, Seth and Samuel Asbill, Gracie, Carly and Ryland Ward, Bobby Johnston, Stephanie J. Freeman, Olivia Freeman, Heidi Johnston, Jimmy, Joey and Lauren Stancil, Mary Lee Flowers and Brenden Lee.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of her grandparents, 5655 Farmstead Rd., Seagrove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartfelt Ministries Community Fund, P.O. Box 542, Ramsuer, NC 27316.
