Joseph was the husband of Elizabeth Emeline (Sparks) Blue (1828 1906). Joseph and Elizabeth were married on February 4, 1849 in Adams County, Indiana. They had ten children together, but only five lived to adulthood including: William H., Joseph C., Eliza Catherine, Mary Lavina "Mollie" and Ellen / Ella Jane Blue. Joseph was the son of Cornelius Blue and Ann (Perrin) Blue. Joseph and his wife, Elizabeth, owned and operated "The Blue Hotel" in Templeton, Benton County, Indiana which later became a dance hall prior to burning down after 1908.
