Catherine Marie “Cathy” Cronin died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Sanford Palliative Care Unit, Fargo.

Services were held Monday, May 4, at St. Mary’s of the Lakes, near Detroit Lakes.

Arrangements were by David Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.

Catherine Marie Sweeney was born September 8, 1929, in Grand Forks, to Robert and Emma (Johnson) Sweeney. She spent her childhood on her parents farm north of Manvel and graduated from St. James High School while living in a boarding house in Grand Forks. She married John “Jack” Cronin June 10, 1952, at St. Timothy’s Church in Manvel.

Cathy attended the University of North Dakota full-time and graduated in 1973 with an accounting degree. She spent the remainder of her career working at UND in the graduate school and purchasing office.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Robert John; sister, Patricia “Patsy”; and brothers, John and Gerald Sweeney.
