Mary Irene Barlow, age 92, of Thurmond, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Pruitt Healthcare in Elkin. She was born in Wilkes Co., on February 3, 1925 to the late Mary Leota Burnette Norman and James Addison Norman. She was instrumental in developing Thurmond Community and White Rock United Methodist Church. She was one of the oldest members of White Rock United Methodist. She always had whit and a smile for everyone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Odell Barlow, and eight siblings.
She is survived by her children, Larry Addison Barlow of Rock Hill, SC, Lynn Barlow of Monroe, NC, and Lisa Barlow of Thurmond. Her grandchildren, Anita Mannion and husband Kevin, Chris Barlow, and Jason Gowen and wife Shannon. One great-grandchild, Jillian Lewis. A special canine, Maggie Mae. Also several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 14, 2017 at White Rock United Methodist Church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 1:30 p.m., at White Rock United Methodist Church by Rev. John Taylor, Rev. Jerry Simmons, and Rev. Greg Simmons. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in State Road.
