Abe Enns got his pilot's license when he was 50 and flew solo to Vancouver, B.C., when he was 74.
Mr. Enns died Sunday night of complications of cancer and Alzheimer's disease at Bradley Road Nursing Home in Bay Village. He was 81.
Mr. Enns was born Aug. 8, 1913, in Russia and moved to Toronto in 1940 to work for Massey-Ferguson as a production engineer. He moved to Cleveland to run Cleveland Press Products in 1964.
While he was running that company, he co-founded Sprockets & Gears Inc., a Cleveland metal-stamping plant, then left both companies in 1974. He later started ABL Products Inc. in Cleveland.
He retired in 1985 when he was 72.
Mr. Enns is survived by his wife, Katherine; daughters, Norma Kuzell of Ottawa, Ontario, Patricia Pidcock of North Olmsted and Carol Lowe of Medina; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. at Jenkins funeral chapel, 2914 Dover Center Rd., Westlake.
