"Aunt Mattie" Lee (Suggitt)(Danford)Haney was my Great Aunt by marriage to Captain George Haney.

Her father was John Suggitt, born in Texas 9/1830,September 1830. His father was from England, his mother was from Germany. John Suggitt was a farmer and the 6/11/1900 Census listed John/Martha Suggitt with a daughter Mattie L. (b.7/1888). Her mother: Martha born in Texas. Her father was from South Carolina, and her mother from Louisiana.

The 1930 Census had Junius Cook,(15) a cousin, living with Mattie Danford in Waller, Texas.

She met and married William H. Danford. They had a daughter named Lydia and she married a Roberson.

Will Danford died and then she married my Uncle George Haney. Junius and Pauline Cook lived with her until she died.

When Uncle George died at home she covered the mirrors in the house because it was suppose to be bad luck if a you saw a corpse in the mirror.

She lived to be 78 years old.
