Catherine parents both came to this country from Germany and arrived in Philadelphia in 1817. Most the people on the ship were separatists, they had separated from the official German religon, the Lutheran Church. Some moved to Greensburg and the majority went further west and settled in Zoar, Ohio. Johann Casper Buhrer and Anna Maria Miller married in Greensburg, PA and Catherine was born their about 1819. They then decided to join up with their freinds who had already settled in Zoar, where their son Stephen was born 25 Dec 1825. Catherine or Caroline first married a Wehe before marrying John Metz 1July 1849.
