Beloved father, grandfather and friend.
Allan H. Mueller, 86 of Stockton, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital - St. Marys Campus in Rochester surrounded by his family. Allan was born January 3rd 1929 to William Fredrich and Marie (Luehmann) Mueller in rural Lewiston. He attended school at Silo Lutheran and St. John's Lutheran in Lewiston where he was confirmed on April 18th, 1943. Allan met the love of his life, Shirley Manke, when he cut in and asked her for a dance. In 1951 Allan was called to serve in the US Army in Korea where he achieved the rank of sergeant. After serving his country he returned to marry Shirley at Central Lutheran Church in Winona on May 16th 1953. Allan grew up during the depression and knew the value of hard work, family and friends. His first job was working on railroad cars for North Western Railroad in Winona. He later moved to Rochester where he worked as a bell hop at the hotel Arthur. He shared stories of looking over the city from the rooftop on a quiet night and how he made good tips chipping ice for the guests when it was announced that the war had ended. After moving to Winona he worked for National Can Retinning Company. In 1959 he and Shirley made their home in Stockton where they remained throughout their 61 years of marriage. He went to work for Stevens trucking in 1969 as a fleet mechanic and continued to work there after it was sold to Erickson bakeries. Allan retired in 1993 and as he said, "enjoyed every minute of it".Allan was a humorous and jovial kind of person. He enjoyed grilling chicken, dining out, family gatherings, and just spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a skilled mechanical who paid attention to detail and could fix almost anything. He was a great father who passed on his patience, skill, and knowledge to his children. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his four children, Karen Blaser of Rochester, David (Deb) Mueller of Stockton, Don (Cindy "Bert") Mueller of Danville, IN, and Tammy (Lee) Potter of Stockton, nine grandchildren; Shane Long, Ben, Adam and Heather Mueller, Danielle, Courtney and Phil Mueller, Amanda (Kadin) Harmening and Michelle (Andrew) VanLoon and great-grandchildren; Ailayah Mueller, Alivia Mueller, Janelle, Julian, and Jackson Parsley.
