Mr. Alonzo Maron Aytch was born on 05 Nov 1866, in Canyonville, Douglas, Oregon to Mr. William Henry and his wife, Mrs. Amanda C. [Rogers] Aytch. His mother was born in Tennessee, March 1845 and his father was born, in about, 1824, in New York State. For a time the family lived in Cow Creek, Douglas, Oregon which is near both the town of Riddle and Canyonville. All three being early towns in the Oregon Territory.

His mother was eventually the mother of thirteen children. In 1900, 11 of her children were still living. But, Mrs. Amanda Aytch had loss her husband, Mr. William Henry Aytch.

Mr. A. M. Aytch never graduated from grade school having completed the 5th grade. From about 1930 on, he lived in Glendale, Oregon. He was a night watchmen for a logging camp in 1930's. Before that, it would appear that he worked as a Logger. It is mentioned in 1910, that 'Lon' worked as a tree feller in Douglas County.

Lon, never married and at the end of his life was living in a little cabin in Glendale and died alone at night. The cause of his death was likely a heart attack.

The informant for Lon's Oregon Death Certificate was his sister, Mrs. Minnie Evelyn [Aytch] Allen. Her husband was Mr. William 'Harvey' Allen. His sister is interred in the Oak Creek Cemetery, near Roseburg, Douglas, Oregon.

Mr. Alonzo Aytch is not the only member of his family buried here. His brother Charles Hiram Aytch is also interred here. Their parent's were not ones to give odd names to their children. That said Alonzo's middle name was likely misspelled on his death certificate. I believe that it's correct spelling would have been, Marion. But, I can't find proof and so I chose to leave it unchanged.

Lon's parents and some of his brothers and sisters left Oregon to make a new home in Mason, Nez Perce, Idaho. Before June 1900, his father died and the eldest son, William Edward Aytch, was made head of the family. The 1900 Federal Census refers to the two eldest brothers as stockmen, or, cattle ranchers.
