Son of Charles Henry & Emma (Becker) Hoffman. Charles was born in PA. His father disappeared, and his mother died when he was about 7. He and brother Millard ended up in Sussex Co, Delaware living with the family of John W and Amanda Spicer.
Services for Charles H. Spicer Sr, 59, of 104 W Monroe Ave, Wilmington Manor, will be Thursday at 3PM at the Windsor & Disharoon Funeral Home, Laurel, DE.
Mr Spicer died yesterday in Wilmington General Hosptial. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel, DE. Friends may call at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, DuPont Hwy and E Van Buren Ave, Wilmington Manor, Wednesday evening.
Mr Spicer was employed as a machinist for Allied Kid Co. For 10 years he served as financial secretary of the Wilmington Manor Fire Co. He also was active in the De State and New Castle Co Volunteer Firemen's Assoc.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs Eva Lathbury Spicer; three children, Charles Jr, Newark; Mrs Louise Gay, Ft Myers, Fl; and Mrs Aneta Parker, Bellefonte; a sister Mrs Emma Heckman, Elsmere; a brother, Millard, Laurel, and 10 grandchildren.
