Frances "Jean" Hendricks Rehberg, 88, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015, surrounded by her family at Burke Hospice. Jean was born on April 15, 1927, in Patrick County, VA to the late Lilburn M. and Annie Jessup Hendricks. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Essie White, Ada Vaughn, Kathryn Tarris, and Lora Jessup and 4 brothers: Ambrose Hendricks, Dennis Hendricks, Haywood Hendricks and Lilburn Hendricks.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, C. William "Bill" Rehberg, Daughter Robin and her family Bret and Ava, and Grandson Joshua and his family Amber and Dexter. She is loved and remembered by many nieces and nephews, friends and family. Jean and Bill travelled extensively and made their home in several different parts of the country, including Florida, New Mexico, California, North Carolina and Virginia. She graduated from Flat Rock High School, where she lettered in Softball and was also the first girl school bus driver in Surry County, NC. Jean's love of life and people carried her through many adventures and travels with Bill. She never met a stranger and enjoyed many careers in the service industry, excelling in each. Jean's last job before retiring was as a teaching assistant, where she worked individually with students in need. Jean was quick to tell a joke, tell a story or tell someone what she thought. She was loved by many, and was always the life of the party. She was funny, fashionable and friendly, and volunteered with Hospice of Surry County until 2 years ago, finally leaving her crochet group at age 86. Jean was called upon to help decorate the Gertrude Smith House at Christmas and spent many hours assisting visitors. The family will receive condolences at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC on Sunday, May 3 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Funeral Services will follow immediately in the chapel at Moody Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hatcher's Chapel Methodist Church in Claudville, VA.
