Born in Ada, Oklahoma, to Otis Steed and Thelma Smith Steed, graduated Will Rogers High School, Tulsa; US Air Force Pilot, 1953-1973; Pilot Trainer and Flight Examiner; flew C-124, C-141, T-124, T-141, Carried combat materials and special weapons over the Northern Hemisphere and Vietnam where he brought back wounded and caskets of the fallen, retired a Major.


Came to Monterey as manager of Heritage Harbor, Insurance Broker with office in Carmel, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Carmel Valley, Recipient of Rotary President's Citation, Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) Monterey Ward.


Survivors include his wife, Carol Christensen Steed; daughters, Sheryl Delgado (Angel), Linda Smith (Larry), Elaine, Jenny McPhee, Sara Lafkas (John), Ashley Nixon (Chris), Briana Steed-Gonzalez (Marlon); grandson, Robert (Sharona); granddaughter, Jennifer Kostlan (Bobby); plus grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill, sister, Connie, son, Michael (Helen) and daughter, Cari Evelyn (Robert).


He was loved and will be missed by many.


Funeral will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, April 18, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1024 Noche Buena, Seaside.
