Sadie Ray Ash was born November 14, 1925 in Trinity, TX where she graduated from Trinity High School, Mary Allen College. She continued her education at the College of New Jersey receiving a BS in Education and Jamison School of Theology where she received a Doctor in Theology.
She was employed by the Trenton Board of Education for over 30 years.
She was a founding member of Mt. Zion AME Church and served on the ministerial staff.

Predeceased by her husband, Raymond, Jr.; her parents, Ell and Mittie Williams; a sister, Lucy Mae Houston and a brother, Ell Williams, Jr. surviving is three sons, Raymond A. Ash, III (Marian), Paul James Ash (Susan), Ell Edward Ash (Kimberly); two daughters, Rosalind Renee Rollins and Bea Bailey (Robert); 11 grandchildren, Cheyney Bailey, Petra Thomas, Krisler Luke, Paul Ash, Jr., Jennie Ash, Vanessa Bryant, Ell Ash, Jr., Miriam Argueta and Raymond Ash, IV, Kimelle and Joshua Ash; 8 great grandchildren, Victoria and Elijah Hutchings, Avery and Arielle Ash, Nishawn Gavin,
Seymah Richardson, Adam and Isaiah Luke; 3 nieces, and 2 nephews, Claudette Berry, Paulette Prince, Gayle Houston-Davis, Floyd Houston and Theophilius Berry, Jr., and a host of family and friends.
