On Friday, May 18, 2018, the angel of silence came to take Abraham Lincoln Devereaux Jr. home. His soul winged a flight from the world of sorrow and pain to a place of eternal rest and peace. Abraham was born to the union of Abraham and Maurine Devereaux.

Abraham received his education in Athens, Texas. He was a graduate of Fisher High and he also attended Prairie View A & M. He married his high school sweetheart, Edna Wallace who preceded him in death. He was a member of North Star Missionary Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.

Abraham is a Vietnam veteran. He served 8 years 6 months in the Army. He rose to the rank of E6 while participating in four combat tours, one in the Dominican Republic and three in Vietnam. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division as a Paratrooper. He was awarded the Bronze Star for outstanding meritorious service during his tour of duty as well as other medals.

Preceding him in death is his wife: Edna Wallace Devereaux; parents: Abraham and Maurine Devereaux; two sisters: Joy Thompson and Rena Gammage.

He leaves to cherish his memories three sons: Dave Devereaux—Los Angeles, California, Tommy (Danita) Devereaux—Duncanville, Texas, Christopher (Traci) Devereaux—Desoto, Texas; Special Friend: Claudia Curtis—Tyler, Texas ; Sisters: Mary English—Dallas, Texas, Glenda McCoy—Hemet, California; Grandchildren: Tommy Devereaux Jr., Jennifer Devereaux, Jared Devereaux, Te’a Devereaux; Great Grandchildren, Ace, Ayden and Julian and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
