Valdosta, Ga.- Margaret Dennis Tomlinson, 79, of Valdosta, Ga., formerly of Sycamore and DeKalb, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 1984, in Valdosta, Ga.
She was born April 20, 1905, in Sycamore, the daughter of Robert G. and Maude Austin Dennis. She married Alvin K. Tomlinson on July 5, 1930 in Sycamore.
She was a graduate of DeKalb Township High School and from Northern Illinois Teacher's College where she received her B.E. in mathematics. She was head of the math department at Mooseheart High School and later taught at the West Aurora High School.
She and her husband moved to Newton, Massachusetts and lived there until their retirement to Valdosta, Ga.
She had been a member of Nor-Deka Lodge 518 Sons of Norway in DeKalb and had just recently become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Georgia. She had served as Girl Scout troop leader at DeKalb's First Congregational church.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin K. Tomlinson; one son, Alvin Dean Tomlinson of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Mrs. James (Margaret Ann) Morrow of Granville, Ohio; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Robert (Grace) Dennis of Gamaliel, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Theodore J. (Audrey) Soli of Sycamore; an aunt, Mrs. George (Gertrude Dennis) Groves and an uncle, William Lundberg, both of DeKalb; and several nieces, one nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews and may cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.
Funeral service was today at Valdosta, Ga.
