Winford was born at his home place, the oldest of seven children, and he died at his home surrounded by family. In 1950, beginning of the Korean Conflict, Winford joined the U. S. Navy, and after his basic training was sent to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Serving in Japan and Korea.
After a tour of duty in the Pacific he was transferred back to the United States and stationed in California. He made five trips to Cuba, transferred to the East Coast and from there was sent to Europe. Winford married the love of his life, Barbara King on October 14, 1952 in Van Buren, Arkansas. From that union eight children were born, six girls and two boys. After his discharge from the Navy, he and Barbara made their home and reared there family in Wagoner. In 1994 Winford was elected President of the Wagoner County Sheriffs Association, under three Sheriff's. He was a reserve Deputy Sheriff for four years and with the help of the membership they have been able to provide a great deal of supplemental services to the Wagoner County Sheriff's Department. He is a member and Past Commander of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post # 1199, presently serving as Post Quartermaster, member and Past Commander of American Legion Post # 153, member and Past Commander of Chapter #88 of the Disabled American Veterans. He is and always has been a Democrat and was a member of the Veterans Advisory Committee for the Second Congressional District of Oklahoma. Winford Faulconer is a distinguished Veteran of the Korean Conflict, proud father, grandfather and great-granddad who was loved and respected by all that knew him. He gave freely of his time and talents to all his family, fellow Veterans and his many friends. Winford H. Faulconer may someday have his total contributions equaled but never excelled. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Benny Faulconer, infant daughter; Jennifer Jane Faulconer, two sisters; Shirley Pearl Dodgen and Belva June Banks. Two brothers; Paul William Faulconer and Jerald Wayne Faulconer and son-in-law; Terry Hobbs. Winford is survived by his wife; Barbara, one son; Rusty Faulconer and wife Katy of Wagoner. Six daughters: Missy Smith and husband Jimmie, Cheryl Harshaw and husband Guy all of Wagoner. Judy Fielden and husband Ronnie of Porter, Karen Hobbs of Adair, Ginger Johnson and husband Carl of Muskogee, Kelly Haley and husband Bob of Wagoner. One brother; Gene Faulconer and wife Linda of Ft. Gibson Sister; Tress Burk and husband Leroy of Okay.
